The National Library of Wales (Welsh: Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru), Aberystwyth, is the national legal deposit library of Wales and is one of the Welsh Government sponsored bodies. It is the biggest library in Wales, holding over 6.5 million books and periodicals, and the largest collections of archives, portraits, maps and photographic images in Wales. The Library is also home to the national collection of Welsh manuscripts, the National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales, Welsh Political Archive and the most comprehensive collection of paintings and topographical prints in Wales. The collection specialises in Welsh material; but also has a large number of items covering the rest of the world.

Past Routes

Past Routes is a Hampshire-based mapping company, founded in the summer of 2022 to help bring historic works and the historic landscape to life. We make use of almost two decades spent studying and working in the world of archaeology and the historic landscape to create maps with a focus on the past, whilst also showing how it fits into the present.

Each map is created with a minimum amount of interpretation and includes source information, allowing you to investigate places and themes using trusted sources. Alongside offering published maps, Past Routes can also undertake commissions and other bespoke work. This can be for publications or for specific projects.
